Busy/Rewarding Weekend

We had a busy weekend. Ricky is the one who was drained. He had a game friday night and did not get home til 12:30am saturday morning. Then had to be back at school at 8am Saturday morning for the parade at Roopville. Then went back to the school for lunch break and then practice, performance at 2pm, then practice til 10pm. And if that was enough he played flag football with a local church and tons of youth from 8am Sunday til 3:30 Sunday afternoon and then headed to choir and praise band practice at church. Let's just say Ricky is tired.... We are so proud of all he has done and continues to do. He is an amazing young man and he continues to amaze us and we are proud to be his parents.

Band Concert

Ricky had his first band performance last night. He was amazing. I am so in awe when I see him play. He has rhythm. He gets that from his dad. : ) I can't keep a beat.  Ricky will be trying out for District Honor band in a couple weeks. We have all the confidence that he will succeed. He has already accomplished the goal of acquiring First Chair. If he holds this seat the remainder of the year he will be able to march in the marching band with the highschool next year when he is in 8th grade. He is shooting for this goal and we have all the confidence that he will make it. Rick and I were in the stands last night smiling ear to ear at how well Ricky was doing. Ricky we are so proud of you. You can do anything you set your mind to. Hope you enjoy this video. Sorry for the blurriness. The gym was packed and we were sitting at the top of the blenchers. Ricky is standing in the back next to the boy that is playing the big round drum. You will see Ricky when he begins to play. You can't miss those hands. : )

First Chair

As the title says Ricky got First Chair in band this week. He was super excited and could not wait to tell me. He texted me right after he found out. He has been working so hard and finally accomplished his goal. If he continues to hold the First Chair position then he will be able to march in the marching band with the highschool in his 8th grade year. We are so excited for him. I see drums always being apart of his life. Congrats Ricky we knew you could do it.

First Band Concert

Ricky's first band concert was a success. I had so much fun watching him play the drums. He was so focused and he even had to remind the other drummers when not to play. I think we may have a director in our midst. He did a great job. We are so proud of him. Ricky you can do anything you set your mind to.Congratulations for a job well done. You deserve it.

Boy meets BAND…..

Below is a post that I wrote back in August/September to post however I have never gotten the picture or the video that I wanted to upload correctly so anyway I guess you guys will just have to picture Ricky playing the drum…. Sorry. Anyhoo, tomorrow is his first Band Concert and I don’t know who is more excited him or me. I can’t wait to see him out there. He is a very courageous young man. I think he got that from his dad because even though I may look courageous when I have spoken in front of crowds before I am actually a scatter brain. We are so proud of him for practicing and sticking with band because I think he will really enjoy it. I will definitely post something tomorrow after the concert letting you know how it goes…. I can hardly wait…..
Well Ricky received his instrument for band. He chose the snare drum and bell kit. This is the same drum his dad played when he was in high school. Ricky was super excited to get his instrument. He scored high on the Clarinet and the Drum but he chose to go with the drum. As soon as we got it home he had to take it out and set everything up…Caiden had to get in on the action too. For about 30 minutes or longer all I heard was banging. I took some pics of Caiden with the drum. It is the same height as he is…. J
