Day 2 of 365 Days of Thanks

Today I am thankful for the manager at Olive Garden in Carrollton, Ga. We ate here on 1/1/15 with my dad. He is very allergic to garlic. The manager took it upon herself to make up a whole new batch of sauce with no garlic. She made sure his food was prepared with great taste and no garlic in sight. She was very sweet. Most of the time you dont find this kind of thoughtfulness. She just didnt know how special she made that day since it was our first meal together in 20 years. I am going to go by there and thank her in person again. When someone makes a point to go out of their way for you make sure to thank them. You never know what that thanks will mean to a person.

Day 1 of 365 Days of Thanks

Today January 1, 2015 I give thanks for my father Johnie Thompson. He drove almost 6 hours to see us and was only able to stay for few hours and had to make the long drive back home. I give thanks that even though 20 years went by with him not knowing what happened to me that he never gave up. He never forgot me and continued to have faith we woild see each other again. God has given us a great start for 2015. I cant wait to meet the rest of my family.

Round 2 of 365 Days of Thanks

Ok everyone if you have read through my posts you know that I tried to do 365 days of thanks last year. Well lets just say life got in the way and it fell by the wayside. My New Years Resolution is to complete 365 days this year. I am behind because today is Jan 3rd but better late than never. Hope you enjoy this and hopefully it will help you think of what your are thankful for and give praise to the one that makes it all happen.

Lord, thank you for each person that reads this post. I pray that you will bless them and their families. I give thanks for the things you have done and continue to do for me and my family.

Day 49

February 18th

Today was another slow day at work. However, through the slow day there is always something to be thankful for. Today I am thankful that my job offers a gym. We have a gym that has treadmills, and elliptical, and other machines that I don't even know what they are. I am a member of the gym so I can use any of the equipment I want. I choose to use the treadmill. I usually walk 15 minutes a day 5 days a week. I know its not much but I figure every minute I am not sitting is better than if I was sitting. I walked 15 minutes today. Tomorrow I will attend circuit training during lunch so that will keep me active for about 30 minutes and I plan on walking as well. I am really thankful that I have access to a gym to better myself for me and my family.

Day 48 of 365 Days of Thanks

February 17th

Today I am thankful for 4 year olds. Today I watched the 4year old and 3 year olds at our church. A friend and I were in the room with about 10, 3 and 4 year olds. At first it is a little overwhelming when you enter the room because for the next hour and half these children are in your care and you are wondering what are we going to do to keep them happy. When Rick is with me he gets all the boys to race cars or make pirate hats or he has even played airplane with all the kids and swung them up in the air until he couldn't lift his arms anymore. Since he wasn't with me yesterday (he had to work) I went in thinking maybe we will color or play with the blocks. The kids pretty much entertained us the whole time. Well the girls did, the boys were too focused on watching Caiden play the video game on my phone. The girls dressed up as princesses and played with the dolls, they colored every page we had in the room, and then they told us all kinds of stories. They are just hilarious. I was invited to 3 different lunches by the girls. The boys could care less as long as they got to watch the game. It was fun watching Caiden step into his dad's footsteps and involve the boys in what he was doing. He was a big help yesterday and he didn't even know he was doing anything. :) Thanks Caiden for being mommy's helper in disguise.

Day 47 of 365 Days of Thanks

February 16

Today I am thankful for my mother. Those of you who know me well know that my mother is in a nursing home. February 5th was her 44th birthday. She is confined to the nursing home due to extensive brain damage that was caused due to extensive drug abuse. Today I went and sat with my mother and just visited with her. I do this as much as I can and I like to take the boys with me; however, it is getting tougher because they get bored easily and that don't fully understand what is wrong and why grandma can't do things. I love being able to spend time with her one on one. My mother-in-law watched the boys so I could visit with my mom alone. We laughed and talked and watched tv shows. It was just a good time being able to make her laugh. I am thankful that she is still here and can still talk to me. She may not understand fully what she is saying but it is great to know that I can understand her and make her laugh. Even though she is in this situation she is still my mom and I am thankful that she gave me life.

Day 46 of 365 Days of Thanks

February 15th

Today I am thankful nights at Grandma's. The boys spent the night at "Nana's" house Friday night. I went to the nail salon right after work for some "Mommy Time." Then I picked up some Moe's for Rick and I. I came home and cleaned up just a little before Rick got home from work. He has been working a ton of overtime so this week he only had one day off. I made us a pallet on the floor with cushions and we had a picnic in the living room and watched movies while we ate. It was a fun time just spending time with my BFF and not worrying about having to get the boys to bed or being a referee when they are fighting. Thanks Lois for taking the boys for the night. We really appreciate you watching the boys for us.

Day 45 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 45---February 14

Today I am thankful for Love. Today is the national holiday to celebrate love. I made a run to the Dollar Tree last night so I could give the boys something for Valentines Day. I was able to grab some of their favorite snacks and a basket. I made each of them a basket with a card. I got Rick a gift certificate to the gun range and some snacks and a card. I printed our picture on an envelope and put the certificate in and then I put the envelope in the steering wheel of the truck so he would find it when he left this morning for work. He was surprised. I took pictures of each of them with their baskets and cards. Rick had to work today so we didn't get to have Valentine's Day technically; however, he did send me a bouquet of flowers and I took him lunch and a single red rose. Our Valentines Day was pretty awesome even though we didn't get to send time together. Below are pictures from our Valentines Day.....

Day 44 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 44---February 13

Today I am thankful for Race Cars. Tonight at church our RA (Royal Ambassadors) group (boys 1st -6th grade and our GA (Girls in Action--girls 1st - 6th grade) made race cars for the racer derby. This is the first year for the girls to participate but the boys are pros at it. It was fun to see how excited the girls were to sand, paint, and decorate their cars. Last night we put the wheels and weights on it. The race is next week and all the kids are excited. I am excited for them. The cars all look great and the kids really used their imagination. Can't wait for the race next week.

Day 43 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 43----February 12th

Today I am thankful for obedience. I have been very obedient in taking circuit training classes. I have gotten stronger in the 4 years that I have participated in the classes. I have lost inches and gained muscles in places I never thought I would have muscles. I miss it on the days that I don't get to go. It is my goal to go every Tuesday; however, sometimes life gets in the way. I am very proud of my self for being able to do squats, pushups, lunges, and sit-ups sometimes 100 each on Tuesdays. I would like to work out more during the week but I don't have someone to push me to stick to it so it doesn't work out like I want it to. Anyway I am thankful that I can be obedient on Tuesdays and stick with the routine I have come accustom to.

Day 42 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 42---February 11th

Today I am thankful for my nephew Lavontae. He was born on this day 3 years ago. He is so cute. I wish I had an updated picture to show you guys. I don't get to see him much so I don't get to over exert him with my picture obsession hobby. : ) I am thankful that God gave him life and he is here on Earth to share it with us.

Day 40

February 9th----Day 40

Today I am thankful for the ShopKick App. I have found this app that gives me points for walking into stores, scanning items, and even when making purchases. I have earned and used $6 in Target gift cards just for scanning items and walking into stores. I have over 4,300 points right now that I can cash in for gift cards; however, I am trying to hold on until I can get up a huge amount and get something big. If you have an Android phone go to the market and download ShopKick. It is a fun way to make free money.

Day 41 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 41----February 10th

This day I was thankful for downtime. I know I have talked about this before but it is a good time for us to have downtime. We watch TV and just spend time with each other and enjoy each others company up until the boys start fighting and yelling and causing trouble. Rick and I love taking naps. The boys not so much but we try to get a nap in on the weekends. Sometimes it works out great and others it doesn't; however, it feels great to just be around family and not worry about having to be somewhere or deadlines or anything else but the moment you are in.

Day 39

February 8th-----Day 39

Today I am thankful for vacation time earned at work. Today I asked my boss could I leave at lunch for the day and I did. I love that the company I work for gives us time off. It helps being a working wife and mom easier to know that I am earning time off every week. I loathe being able to take off half a day or even just a couple hours because I can get things done and spend more time with my family. Today I got off and helped Rick get all the boys together to get their haircut then I stayed home cleaned up and worked on our taxes. I even had time to have some girlfriend time with my neighbor before Rick got back home. He had 7 boys with him at the barber shop all at one time.!!!! God bless him. : )

Day 38

Feb. 7th---Day 38

Today I am thankful for songs. Caiden learned a new song at school and he had to come home and sing it to me. I almost teared up when he sang it to me. Music is great entertainment for our family. Ricky is so musically talented and I see Caiden following right along in his footsteps. Anyway I made a video of his song. You will have to turn your volume up and listen closely to hear him. I guess he was shy because of the camera or it might be that we were already cramped for time and the bus was right up the road and we were stressing and trying to get out the door. :) That's a typical morning at our house. Hope you enjoy the video.

Day 37

February 6th---Day 37

Today we had church activities to attend. I am thankful that there are activities that we can attend to teach us more about God's love for us and his purpose. We are so fortunate to not have to hide our religion or be afraid for our lives to worship our Lord. I am so thankful that in America we can worship freely. It is so refreshing to see all the children at church very involved in the activities. Thank you Lord for everything you do for us and thank you for providing a safe haven for us to worship and praise you.

Day 36 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 36
Today I found out that my sister-in-law passed the GED test. I am so thankful that she was able to excel at this accomplishment. It has been a long process to get to this point and now she can see that anything she puts her mind to she can accomplish. Key Key we are so proud of you and always know that we are here to support you. We love you and CONGRATS on your accomplishment!!!! Can’t wait to see what God has in store for you.

Day 35 of 365 Days of Thanks

Day 35
Today I am thankful that Ricky had a successful first Track Meet. This is his first year participating in track. I was very apprehensive because he has exercised induced asthma but the first meet yesterday was a success. He did not have to use his inhaler. I am happy for that. I hope that one day he will grow out of the asthma episodes but for now we are taking extra precautions. I am just thankful that the good Lord was watching over him and kept him safe. Congratulations Ricky on your first meet!!!

Day 34---Feb3

Day 34

Today at church we had a get-together for a missionary family that is part of our church. Chris and Katie have been a part of Tabernacle Baptist Church since before they were married and before they became missionaries. They now have 2 daughters and are missionaries in Mozambique, Africa. They came home for a leave last April and will be going back to Mozambique next month. We will miss them dearly but we are so proud of the work they do. They are examples for us all. I am so thankful for their lives and their daughters' lives. They do so much great work in Mozambique and I know God is thankful for their faithfulness and hard work. Today we worshipped with the family and just fellowshipped with each other. Chris and Katie thank you for what you do for all of us. We will pray for you as you journey back to work in Mozambique. We all love you and are so proud of your decision to follow your heart and go wherever the Lord takes you.
